I saw a link to this story over on Facebook- with the typical liberal doom and gloom “Oh My God! The Poor are going to DIE!” bs.
Our Family will lose $44 in Food Stamps
Well it’s CRAP! The family of four adults gets $800! Yup EIGHT HUNDRED dollars a month in food stamps! And this lady can’t make it through a month? Get REAL!  $800 is PLENTY to feed a family of four. PLENTY! (And as to why her pregnant adult daughter can not watch the baby of the OTHER adult daughter so she could get a job? THAT is another post!)

Yup- I could do that. Years and years ago I fed my boys and self on food stamps when my benefit for the 3 of us was $205 a month. And I did it. Was it easy? No. Some strategies were necessary. Starting with NO JUNK. No sugary cereal. No store-bought cookies. No soda or chips or candy. No prepared foods like spaghetti in a can or canned soups. Absolutely NO brand name things unless you have a coupon that brings the price below the store brand. Snacks were perhaps carrot sticks, an apple, celery with PB. Raisins. A big treat was plain nacho chips with block cheese grated over the top and popped in the oven. Gee- my house was THE go to home for good eats for my boys friends; they LOVED those nachos lol. Tuna casserole. Eggs- cheap and nutritious protein. Home made oatmeal cookies. Oatmeal – NOT instant in individual packages. Very nutritious and filling. Chili.  A chicken would make AT LEAST three meals. Who needs Bisquick? Make your own and save a LOT of money. Keep a good basic pantry with flour, baking powder and baking soda. Yeast. Make your own bread. Purchase seasonal items. Potatoes and rice- always filling and potatoes are chock full of vitamins and minerals. Try to get yourself and your family in the habit of eating the skins too. Waste nothing. Watch for sales and buy in bulk when possible. For example- if chicken is on sale- buy extra and freeze it. Do not pay extra for cut up chicken-check the price. If whole chicken is cheaper- buy whole and cut it up yourself. Same with pork and beef. Buy big and cut it down. Save the ends of celery and carrots in a bag in the freezer for stock. DO NOT take children with you to the grocery store. Shop only twice a month. (I had a milkman back then so it made it easier but milk can be frozen and there is always powdered milk.) When apples are cheap in the fall- buy a lot and make your own applesauce and apple butter. Make up apple pie filling and freeze it. Same with pears. Same with peaches. Get it while it is cheap and learn how to preserve it. Most vegetables freeze very well. Buy vegetables in season and learn how to blanch and freeze. Watch price differences on fresh vs frozen vs canned. Not a big fan of canned vegetables- too much salt- but if it is the cheapest per pound go for it. Many times frozen vegetables price per pound is cheaper than fresh and just as nutritious. On the subject of frozen- milk can be frozen too. How about powdered or canned milk? Is it cheaper per gallon?

Popcorn. Regular old plain popcorn. NOT microwaveable in a bag portions of popcorn. Why pay extra for convenience and packaging? While I’m at it- let’s make SNAP like WIC- ONLY nutritious food. NO soda, chips, cookies or other junk. It is supposed to be a NUTRITION assistance program.

Could I do it today? I would say I probably could. I still shop only twice a month and average $48 per trip. Husband shops at the alternate stores weekly and spends about $35 a trip.  We have the luxury of having an Aldi’s and a bent and dent store in the area. When I go to the store I head first for the marked down produce. I can often get oh luxury of luxury! Mushrooms at half off. Last shopping trip there were five packages of bananas marked down from 59 cents a pound to 39 cents a pound. I bought four packages. We ate one, I made a big batch of banana bread mini loaves- we ate one loaf and froze the rest for holiday giving. I froze the rest of the bananas for later baking and smoothies.

We save all year to buy a whole hog or lamb at the 4-H market auction in August. This year we got a whole hog for $2 a pound. That was $440  for the animal and then .45 a pound for the local processor to get it ready for the freezer. After processing and loss from the processing we paid about $3.66 a pound for pork. Pork enough for us for one year and some to give to church.

A few years back a CNN producer took the food stamp challenge– and bought chicken breasts? Lady are you kidding me? Chicken breasts? See the above- you buy a WHOLE chicken. Unless the chicken breasts were marked down to less than the cost of a whole chicken or less than legs and thighs.

Quit with the boo hoo bs before you start on me about food deserts and all that BS. Every city I know of has a farmer’s market and most all accept food stamps. Why not pitch in together on gas and get to a grocery store? God Forbid I should suggest that perhaps churches and other organizations could maybe run a van out to the grocery stores a couple of times a month? When I was on hard times my friends and I would chip in together to buy big bulk packs and split them up at home. Can the current recipients get together and do the same?

Quit enabling people to feel sorry for themselves and pointing out how life sucks for them. Teach them how to succeed with what they have and how to strive to make it better. Stop trying to make people who CAN afford a more varied diet feel guilty. Stop trying to frighten people. And forget about trying to make ME feel sorry for them. I believe we should help people out- OUT of poverty. NOT leave them there with no skills. And helping people out does not mean they get everything the working class or wealthy people get.

Oh and the lady in the CNN story lives in Florida. How about planting a garden lady? How about giving up some of those lovely potted plants and putting the pots to good use growing FOOD?

And quit with the BS of Congress people and “journalists”  not giving the whole picture. It serves nothing but to promote an agenda.

I challenge ANY journalist or Congress critter to come here and I will show them how it is done and done well. I challenge the “journalists” to state FACTS- ALL of them- not just the sensationalized agenda promoting ones.

Forced Marriages in The US of A?

Can somebody please explain this? I sure do not get it.
PROMISES, PROMISES: ‘Widows’ tax’ lingers

WASHINGTON – Tens of thousands of the nation’s war widows find it perplexing and downright disrespectful to their late military husbands: In order to fully collect on insurance their husbands bought for them when alive, they must marry another man.

And to qualify, the widows must remarry when they are 57 or older. Those who remarry earlier miss out, as do widows who never remarry.

Am I to understand that if- God Forbid- my son is killed in the line of duty my daughter in law must REMARRY to collect the insurance my son has been paying for these last 18 years? (Or God forbid- my daughter in law is killed when she deploys to Afghanistan this summer would this same rule apply to my son?)

At the heart of the issue is a government policy known as the “widows’ tax.” It says a military spouse whose loved one dies from a service-related cause can’t collect both survivor’s benefits and the full annuity benefits from insurance the couple bought from the Defense Department at retirement. Instead, the amount of the annuity payment is reduced by the amount of the monthly survivor benefit.

Excuse me- but the troops buy the insurance because they know the survivor’s benefits will not be enough to keep the family fed, clothed and housed decently and put the kids through school. (Keeping in mind that if your spouse dies and you are living in military housing- you lose that benefit and have to go get housing in the open market.)

For war widows who were denied the full benefits of their military insurance, the government sought to help by giving them back the premiums their spouses had paid for the policies. But if a widow then remarries at age 57 or older, becoming eligible for the benefit, she can only get it by repaying the insurance premiums the government had refunded to her.

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH! This is WRONG on so many levels. Service members are limited by their occupation on where they can purchase insurance as most  insurance policies carry those lovely disclaimers that tell you no payment for dying in a war. They are ripping off the troops and the military spouses.

AND- what the hell is that about remarrying? Forcing a war widow(er) to remarry is just plain WRONG! What the hell kind of archaic bull is that? What is this- the friggin Dark Age or the Middle Ages? When women were not allowed control of their bodies, could not own property and had no rights?

I want to e-mail that link to my troops- but they have enough to worry about with a deployment coming up.

I have the world’s best Daughter in Law- I don’t want a new one- and I am sure my son does not want a replacement wife. We won the lottery when we got her- and no amount of money can replace her.

Sometimes I really really hate Congress. They screw up everything they touch.

This Is How You Fix Congress!

Just got this from my big Sis. See- people can grow and change! (When I sent her a similar thing a few years ago, she laughed me off. Guess listening to her union isn’t working out so well now that she is retired.) Pass this on! If you would like me to copy you on the e-mail I received containing this- let me know in the comments.

I am going to see if I can find 20 people who agree or disagree with this issue.

Read down below and forward to 20 or more folks, or as many as you can  —-  folks who think the congressional offices holders are out of touch with the citizens … or maybe just holding the office to feather their nest.

This isn’t Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Tea Party, Green Party or Independent; it’s the Right thing for all parties.

You’re part of my 20 people, hoping you will  send  this  on  to  your  20  so  we  get  this  out

before  November

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message.  Maybe it is time.

Congressional Reform Act of 2010

1. Term Limits.

12 years only, one of the possible options below..

A. Two Six-year Senate terms
B. Six Two-year House terms
C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms

2.  No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3.  Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately.  All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.  Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/11.

The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen.  Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

If you agree with the above, pass it on.   If not, just delete

Help Wanted! Updated!

United Farm Workers of America is issuing a challenge to the unemployed (and anybody else who wants a shot.)And the fake news guy Colbert- he who so many college and high school students got their “news” from during the 2008 election cycle- is getting in on the act.

San Francisco – In a tongue-in-cheek call for immigration reform, farm workers are teaming up with comedian Stephen Colbert to challenge unemployed Americans: Come on, take our jobs,

Will Colbert actually get out in the fields or does his commitment to the cause stop short of actual sweat?

The article has a few interesting points to make – such as the fact that thousands of agricultural jobs are being posted with state agencies. Use your imagination on that- and why are we spending a gazillion dollars on summer programs for teenagers when these jobs are available? Sounds like work they could benefit from! Put down the cell phones, I-pods and video games and get to work! Teach them a little work ethic and help them get in shape. Flotus would approve- if it only didn’t take jobs away from her husband’s future voters.

Another interesting point in the article-

Proponents of tougher immigration laws have argued that farmers have become used to cheap labor and don’t want to raise wages enough to draw in other workers.

Well DUH! See all the Monsanto articles at Uppity Woman’s and you will find out who really wants to keep those labor costs down. Oh- and by the way America- quit bitching about the cheap labor unless you want to pay $6.00 a pound for tomatoes!

Then there is this little nugget

Farm workers are excluded from federal overtime provisions, and small farms don’t even have to pay the minimum wage. Fifteen states don’t require farm labor to be covered by workers compensation laws.

You got it- no overtime and no worker’s comp. And this would be because? Oh yes- the farmers big agrabusiness wants cheap labor- and of course- Acorn can register all those illegals and make as many Democrats as they want.

Read this carefully

California’s agriculture industry launched a similar campaign in 1998, hoping to recruit welfare recipients and unemployed workers to work on farms, he said. Three people showed up.

“Give us a legal, qualified work force. Right now, farmers don’t know from day to day if they’re going to get hammered by ICE,” he said, referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “What happens to my labor pool?”

His organization supports AgJobs, a bill currently in the Senate which would allow those who have worked in U.S. agriculture for at least 150 days in the previous two years to get legal status.

UHM- excuse me? Welfare recipients were not REQUIRED to show up? What is wrong with that picture? But I can guess that they were not required because the jobs do not meet minimum employment standards for American workers. And that rumor we have been hearing about barfy the talking puppet potus making them all legal by executive order?

Probably not going to happen. Monsanto would have fits! Why – if all those illegal aliens all of a sudden became Americans overnight- they would want what American’s take for granted. Safe working conditions and reasonable wages. Can’t have that now can we?

So here is what I think- teenagers running riot and wreaking havoc on their neighborhoods? Make them fruit pickers for the summer. Welfare recipients that want benefits with no work? Put them in the fields and let them pick.

Hey- we have strawberry and blueberry growers and hay makers right here in NW PA- and guess what? Most of the workers are teenagers- saving up for college. Teens not afraid to work hard and break a sweat. Teens who don’t whine about benefits and breaks. Gee- what a concept!

If people want to become Americans- let them get the hell in line- and put our people to work! There would be a lot fewer crimes in the inner city if the slack a days were put to work.

Oh- and I want to see Colbert do some actual work- along with all those lazy self important assholes in DC!

I just saw this article about the most expensive cities in the world- I want you all to take a look at the cost of rice and eggs in those cities. And prepare yourselves.

The World’s Most Expensive Cities 2010

Go ahead! I double dog dare you! How about $7.64 for one dozen eggs? Or $9.14 for a kilo (2.2 pounds) of rice?

Now do you really think we are ever getting rid of our illegal immigrant problem? Only if we are willing to pay premium prices for our groceries.

Dahlkemper! TOO LATE!

I got the communication below  this morning from the traitorous bitch that purports to represent us here in NW PA. (Though it is evident that she has been bought and sold by the DNC ) Sorry Kathy- I am just not feeling any of your pain- Stupid stupid stupid! I called you, I wrote you,  I e-mailed you. I and thousands of others told you that we would vote you out if you sold us out. Unless Pelosi kept you locked in a closet you KNOW the majority of Americans are opposed to this bill. Didn’t believe us? Think your sugar daddy can save you?  Not once did you or your office respond to any of my communications. Running scared are you? You should be because no matter what you think of Sarah Palin – she stands up for what she believes in (unlike YOU Mrs. Dahlkemper) and Sarah will fight to the end.

By the way – has the fraud signed that ridiculous executive order yet?? HMMM? Are you still waiting???

You are a Judas Kathy Dahlkemper- you sold out the people who voted you in-I will enjoy every minute I spend working to see you defeated.

Dear (took my name out here),

We knew they would be coming after me, but no one thought that it in just two days after the historic vote for health care reform, Sarah Palin and outside interests would announce that they are targeting me and working to defeat me in November.  Look at the article below from today’s Politico.

Palin unveils midterm target list
By: Andy Barr
March 23, 2010 02:06 PM EDT
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin rolled out a list of Democratic members of Congress she intends to target for defeat this year, announcing that she’ll go after lawmakers who voted for health care reform and hail from districts she and Arizona Sen. John McCain won in the 2008 presidential election. Forty-eight Democrats represent districts that voted for McCain.

“With the president signing this unwanted and ‘transformative’ government takeover of our health care system today with promises impossible to keep, let’s not get discouraged,” Palin wrote in a post on her Facebook wall, urging supporters not to “get demoralized.”

“We’re going to hold them accountable for this disastrous Obamacare vote,” she continued.

The Democratic members she listed were: Ann Kirkpatrick (Ariz.), Harry Mitchell (Ariz.), Gabrielle Giffords (Ariz.), John Salazar (Colo.), Betsy Markey (Colo.). Allen Boyd (Fla.), Suzanne M. Kosmas (Fla.), Baron P. Hill (Ind.), Earl Pomeroy (N.D.), Charlie Wilson (Ohio), John Boccieri (Ohio), Kathy Dahlkemper (Pa.), Christopher Carney (Pa.), John M. Spratt, Jr. (S.C.), Tom Perriello (Va.), Alan B. Mollohan (W.Va.), and Nick J. Rahall II (W.Va.).

“We’ll aim for these races and many others,” she wrote. “This is just the first salvo in a fight to elect people across the nation who will bring common sense to Washington.”

I need your help to continue to stand up and do the right thing.  I need you to continue to volunteer your efforts, to go door to door, make phone calls, speak out, and I will need you and your friends to vote.   (I took out the last line where there are links to contribute- if you want to support a traitor to the people it won’t be from my blog)

Thank you,

Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper

Welcome to Barakastan

It’s official- hope all the kool-aid drinking asshats are ecstatic.

So girls- better make sure you are playing safely when you do the sex for votes for Barky thing- because you won’t be having any abortions on the public dime- though we will all be paying for their Viagra. Oh wait- I am not sure but I don’t think birth control is covered- that might be an abortion- so better buy stock in condoms. It’s better anyway- you can protect your self from that nasty HPV virus that all the dirty dicks are spreading around.

While you are at it- better buy yourself some nice dark material and start practicing wearing your burkha- it’s coming really soon. Wouldn’t want men to have to take any responsibility for their own urges now- that is asking too much- you will accept responsibility for inciting lust! Cover yourselves!

Rights? Nope- no more rights- the IRS will be the enforcers- when the HHS Dept takes over your bank account.

Stupid stupid people- you did not do your homework and this is what you get- unfortunately we all have to suffer. A pox on every single person that voted for the community organizer- including the dead ones that voted courtesy ACORN.

Let the counter revolution begin! If your congress person voted for this abomination- vote them out. Find some way to protect your family and your money. Maybe Timmee Tax Evader can give us all tips on how to keep the IRS out of our pockets without going to jail..

On my morning round of blogs I read this over at Days of Change

Let’s Make A Deal

Jackass is now openly using political patronage as bribes. It’s what they call Chicago-style politics. Jim Matheson of Utah can vote for the bill now, knowing his brother has a shiny new appointment to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

So they supposedly are taking out the “Cornhusker Kickback” and the “Louisiana Purchase” but the Congress vermin are still for sale to the highest bidder.

This is what it reminds me of-

(except the 4-H kids have a product worth buying!)

HEY! Those are MY nickels and dimes!

The arrogance! The gall! Us lowly taxpayers have to keep every receipt for 7 years lest the tax man cometh! Unemployment benefits are running out, people are losing their homes, hunger and poverty are on the rise and lawmakers have the balls to say things like THIS?

Lawmakers Keep the Change

Cash Left Over From Official Trips Overseas Is Often Used for Personal Expenses

“You are all concerned about nickels and dimes, and I’m not,” said Rep. Alcee Hastings (D., Fla.). “You know, in a taxicab in Kazakhstan, I don’t have time to get a receipt—I don’t speak Kazakh.”

and this-

Lawmakers who said they sometimes keep excess funds said the amounts were small. “I won’t deny that sometimes I have a little left, but it’s not much—maybe 80, 90, or 100 dollars,” said Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D., N.C.).

Maybe 80, 90 or a 100 dollars isn’t much to these whores- but that is groceries, or part of an electric bill or gas bill for the average American! And just let ANY average American try getting away with not keeping receipts to justify per diem!

Once again, they play by their rules with OUR money!

Stand and be counted (maybe twice!)

Have you been watching your tax dollars at work promoting the census? Did you catch the Superbowl ads- which in my opinion look like they were made by a junior high media class- which in my area are still running.

Yikes! When I went to You Tube to get that I found a whole damn page of U.S. Census Bureau ads! A little button you can click to “see all 78 ads!” Damn this must be really, really important! Lots of stimulus used there to create some jobs!

Or how about this- this must be creating some jobs!

Seattle fortune cookies hold census message

And here’s a word from the Census Bureau themselves

That’s why it’s so important that you fill in the form and promptly mail it back. Census information affects the numbers of seats your state occupies in the U.S. House of Representatives. And people from many walks of life use census data to advocate for causes, rescue disaster victims, prevent diseases, research markets, locate pools of skilled workers and more.

Hmmm- affects the number of seats in the House of Representatives, people from many walks of life use the data to :advocate.”

Moving on- try this- we count all inhabitants- not just citizens- ALL inhabitants- we want EVERYBODY to get their proper representation right? I mean, wouldn’t want Congress and the electoral college to represent only U.S. Citizens now would we?

State Government, Nonprofits and Telemundo Promote Census Participation

So let me get this right- if states like California and Arizona count their illegal immigrants they might get more representation in Congress (and more of my money?) Like I want California to spew more Nancy Pelosis on the country!

Of course we all know the Federal Government takes great care of our tax dollars don’t we? Remember this?

“The costs were substantial,” he wrote, imploring the agency to improve cost estimates so the national head count does not exceed its $15 billion price tag.

So back to the counting of illegals- who all is doing this counting? Asides from the fact that the government is hiring lots and lots of temporary workers to do this counting of folks who don’t mail in their forms- just who is in charge of all this? Well, there is no clear answer- you can go to the Census Bureau home page or do an on-line search and see the ads for Census Workers.  But who are the “partners?” Well we “know” that Acorn has been disqualified as a “partner” in the census – right?

The Census Director has sent a letter to the National Headquarters of ACORN notifying the group that the Census Bureau is severing all ties with the community organizing group for all work having to do with the 2010 census.

“Over the last several months, through ongoing communication with our regional offices, it is clear that ACORN’s affiliation with the 2010 Census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 Census efforts,” read a letter from Census Director Robert M. Groves to the president of ACORN.

“Unfortunately, we no longer have confidence that our national partnership agreement is being effectively managed through your many local offices. For the reasons stated, we therefore have decided to terminate the partnership,” the letter said.

Uh-Huh- sure- right! And what is to prevent individual Acorn activists from applying for these jobs? Nothing- absolutely nothing. The same folks we remember from the caucuses and primaries- the same folks under investigation for fraudulently registering voters to get their buddy elected are in the process of renaming themselves- the ACORN name being toxic now.  I would bet anything that these people are chest deep in this count and are going to do their best to make sure “everybody” gets counted.

Look for Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and assorted others to show up in the Census. Anybody want to hazard a guess as to which States get new seats and which lose some? Go check out which districts went red and which blue in the 2008 for a preview.

Reminder- Fill out your census form! 25 million Illlegals say Muchos Gracias!

Reminder- Fill out Your Census! 25 Million illegals say "Muchas Gracias!"

A Word (or two) from Thomas Paine

Thomas Paine- do they teach him in school anymore? Probably not. {sigh} Too bad- much of what he penned back in Revolutionary times is good advice for today.  I posted from Paine’s Common Sense back during the primaries and will post a little more today.

SOME writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins. Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness; the former promotes our happiness positively by uniting our affections, the latter negatively by restraining our vices. The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first is a patron, the last a punisher.

Absolute governments (though the disgrace of human nature) have this advantage with them, that they are simple; if the people suffer, they know the head from which their suffering springs, know likewise the remedy, and are not bewildered by a variety of causes and cures. But the constitution of England is so exceedingly complex, that the nation may suffer for years together without being able to discover in which part the fault lies, some will say in one and some in another, and every political physician will advise a different medicine.

I know it is difficult to get over local or long standing prejudices, yet if we will suffer ourselves to examine the component parts of the English constitution, we shall find them to be the base remains of two ancient tyrannies, compounded with some new republican materials.

First.- The remains of monarchical tyranny in the person of the king. Secondly.- The remains of aristocratical tyranny in the persons of the peers. Thirdly.- The new republican materials, in the persons of the commons, on whose virtue depends the freedom of England.

(All bolding is mine.)

Now go back and read it again and substitute America for England, Obama for King and Congress for peers.  We have today a situation very much resembling what Paine is describing here. There is a problem in this country and every “political physician” (read talking head, political adviser, Senator, Congressman, President etc) has a different cure. And they all want to blame the “other side.”

I should note that Paine goes on in his discourse to point out that both King and Peers were hereditary positions. Not so here in the States at least as far as the Presidency goes. The Congress is not supposed to be hereditary- but think back to a few months ago when there was the uproar over “The Kennedy’s seat.” And think also on this- as pointed out at by Uppity Woman yesterday in the comments section of one of her posts- we need term limits! (Sorry UW I could not find the exact comment- you are so popular and there are so many nuggets of wisdom maybe you can provide the average age of the dinosaurs in Congress.) Many of the Senators and Congress people might as well have hereditary seats they have been there so long!

A little common sense people!
