Obama giveth and reality taketh away

Yesterday he was the savior of the world- all those jobs he “saved or created” and keeping the world from falling into the great depression.

Today- reality check.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The number of U.S. workers filing new applications for unemployment insurance unexpectedly surged last week, while producer prices increased sharply in January, raising potential hurdles for the economic recovery.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 31,000 to 473,000, the Labor Department said on Thursday. That compared to market expectations for 430,000.

Ya think the morons would have waited until this report came out before sending TOTUS, Biden and the Obama hopey changey cheerleaders out to tout his magnificence?

Prices are going up, jobless claims are going up and yet the liar in chief is all over the news yesterday claiming WE are all too stoopid to understand how helpful HIS economic stimulus plan was to us poor bitter hicks.

Well at least some of Obama’s biggest campaign contributors are benefiting from his reign.

In the midst of a deep economic recession, America’s health insurance companies increased their profits by 56 percent in 2009, a year that saw 2.7 million people lose their private coverage.

Remember it was just a week ago when Obama and his shill HHS Secretary Sebelius were demanding explanations for the huge increase proposed by the big insurance companies?

Sebelius said “it remains difficult to understand” how premium increases of up to 39 percent can be justified when WellPoint reported a $2.7 billion profit in the last quarter of 2009.

Right- sure- ok. All smoke and mirrors in the push to renew public enthusiasm for the DOA health care bill. Here is what she says now-

“This shocking increase isn’t unique,” said the report, being presented by Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a news conference Thursday. “Across the country, families have seen their premiums skyrocket in recent years, and experts predict these increases will continue.”

Saw that coming a mile off. We are being played – no way is Obama going to piss off his buyers. If his plan succeeds they all get what they want- he gets his “historic moment” of passing a health care reform bill and the insurance companies get to stick it to us-AGAIN!

The White House may think we are stupid; they may claim not to have “explained” the benefits of their plan to us low intelligence citizens and they can continue til the cows come home spinning and respinning. They are either masters of double speak or just to dumb to realize we live in the REAL world- not the alternate universe with its rarefied air that they inhabit.

  1. What they didn’t show in the news conference when Obama was touting those numbers of “jobs saved” was the contortions he was going through as he bent over as his trusty VP Biden pulled those numbers out of his ass and handed them to him.

We are in deep trouble and when inflation hits via Jimmy Carter style, this country is going to collapse. And to add to our pain, Obama is going to stick it to us further by giving us a health care bill that will further reward the health care industry and big pharma for destroying us.

    • You got it- maybe Obama is our cross to bear???

Inflation is coming- hinted at in one of the linked articles- already seeing it in energy prices- though I doubt anybody recognizes it as the harbinger it is- because it is winter and more or less expected.

  2. proudmilitarymom- well, I’m seeing it already in the grocery stores. I’ve noticed that the canned goods are beginning to climb…a few penny’s every week, and fresh produce is just getting ridiculous. I know it’s winter, so produce is usually a little high–but this seems a bit over the top.

    • I just spent a ridiculous $73 at the store- and the only meat I bought was salt cod at $10 for the box! TEN DOLLARS! ! Every item I bought was on sale and the store brand- except for cereal- on sale and had a coupon. Bought some broccoli, some grapes, splurged on bananas.
My husband got some chicken at a place closer to where he works- but even that was expensive!
We are spoiled here- having fresh produce in the winter was unheard of even when I was growing up- except for cabbage and carrots.
Good thing I know how to stretch it all out!

  3. proudmilitarymom- I know, I find myself looking for coupons now when before I never bothered with them. For now, we can manage our food bill, but when my son comes home for summer break and I’m also taking care of my granddaughter in the summer–those food bills are going to soar! I’m dreading it.
