PIN DROP
At a time when our president and other politicians tend to
apologize for our country’s prior actions, here’s a refresher on how
some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our
country.
THESE STORIES ARE GOOD REMINDERS OF HOW PROUD AND THANKFUL WE SHOULD ALWAYS BE AS AMERICANS:
JFK’S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60′s when
DeGaule decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaule said he wanted all US
military out of France as soon as possible.
Rusk responded,
“Does that include those who are buried here?”
DeGaule did not respond.
You could have heard a pin drop.

When in England ,
at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the
Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example
of ‘empire building’ by George Bush.
He answered by saying,
“Over the years, the United States has sent many of
its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom
beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for
in return is enough to bury those that did not
return.”You could have heard a pin drop.

There was a conference in France
where a number of international engineers
were taking part, including French and American. During a break,
one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, “Have
you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft
carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he
intend to do, bomb them?”

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: “Our carriers have three
hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are
nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to
shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to
feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several
thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry
half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to
and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships;
how many does France have?” You could have heard a pin drop.

A U.S. Navy Admiral
was attending a naval conference that included
Admirals from the U.S. , English, Canadian, Australian and French
Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a
large group of officers that included personnel from most of those
countries.
Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks
but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn
many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, “Why is it
that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than
speaking French?”
Without hesitating,
the American Admiral replied, “Maybe it’s because the
Brit’s, Canadians, Aussie’s and Americans arranged it so you
wouldn’t have to speak German.”You could have heard a pin drop.

AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE…
Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane.
At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport
in his carry on.”You have been to France before, monsieur?” the customs officer asked sarcastically.Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. “Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.”The American said,
“The last time I was here, I didn’t have to show it.” “Impossible.
Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France!”
The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he
quietly explained, ”Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on
D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn’t find a single
Frenchmen to show a passport to.” You could have heard a pin drop.

In most primaries, turn out is dismal. Here is an old 2010 article with some good graphs. I would dare to say that not much has changed. Regular run of the mill average Americans disregard the primaries, choosing to just go ahead and pull the lever in November for whichever candidate has a D or R next to their name.

Shame, shame, shame. Bypassing participation in the primaries has brought us a slew of candidates from the fringes of BOTH parties. It is my belief that most of America is in the center- some slightly left, some slightly right, but averaging out to the center. The fringes control who ends up on the November ballot- because THEY vote in primaries. They pick the most rabid candidates and that is what WE end up with as “choices” in November. The money men behind the scenes know the key issues and words to rally the rabid.

If we want to have an actual choice of an actual center candidate, then we damn well better get out there and vote. And talk talk talk to to others about the importance of the primaries.

And THAT is my new strategy. Get as many involved in the primaries as possible. The lunatic left and the rigid right get the vote out-

the center needs to do the same.

And take back our parties from the freaky fringes.

Mexico to cull 50,000 wild boars from US invasion

Mexican officials have unveiled plans to slaughter some 50,000 wild boars that have crossed the border from the United States and now threaten agriculture in Mexico

“We must get rid of these European wild boars because they sleep overnight on US soil during the day and cross over to the Mexican side to feed,” Ignacio Legarreta, a state official, told local media.

I am apalled at this gross injustice to immigrants! These hogs are not criminals, and are only trying to better themselves. How dare the unfeeling Mexican government propose such draconian schemes to enforce their borders. Perhaps the hogs could get green cards to go over to Mexico to feed, then return to the US. They should also expect free education, health care, and food stamps if they decide to stay in Mexico..legally or not.

Solyndra is in the news again- but you have to LOOK for the info- as the “news” is all fascinated by some squatters taking over

city parks.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Obama administration’s decision to restructure a half-billion dollar loan to a failing solar energy company is back in the spotlight as a House panel resumes hearings on solar panel maker Solyndra.

Newly released emails show that the Treasury Department was concerned that the loan restructuring, approved earlier this year, could violate federal law. The deal was structured so that private investors moved ahead of taxpayers for repayment on part of the loan in case of a default by Solyndra.

How lucky for the administration! There is a hearing today! Will it be televised? Or will the “news” media keep their cameras and pens on the OWS?

OOPS! White House Fails Basic Geography

Looks like someone in the White House press office needs to brush up on his or her U.S. geography.

Included in the press credentials packages were maps. Maps with a problem.

Wyoming is highlighted, not Colorado. To be fair, both states are rectangular, nearly identical in size, and stacked next to each other. But we doubt our third grade teachers would buy that!

The reporter says third grade- I will be generous and say fifth grade.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:-Knowing when to come in out of the rain; – Why the early bird gets the worm;- Life isn’t always fair; – And maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies, don’t spend more than you can earn and adults, not children, are in charge. His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife Discretion, his daughter Responsibility, and his son, Reason. He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights,I Want It Now,Someone Else Is To Blame,I’m A Victim.Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
